Ashbourne Sandstone is an innovative white blend that reflects the terroir of sandstone soils in the most beautiful way possible. Clear wine with lots of fruit aromas such as lemon zest and yellow apples. Full and soft taste of lemon, blood orange and bergamot. With minerality and a natural acidity.
Ashbourne is located in the Heaven and Earth Valley at the southern tip of South Africa. There is a cool, maritime climate and the old soil is extremely rich in clay and iron. The winery makes terroir-driven wines with a focus on Sauvignon Blanc and Pinotage.
This wine follows a non-traditional vinification. The Chardonnay matures for 5 months in ceramic 'eggs', the Semillon for 5 months in neutral barrels and the Sauvignon Blanc in amphorae.
A perfect wine as an aperitif. A nice combination with oysters, gamba's and other seafood, but also with goats cheese or fish and light dishes with chicken or turkey.
Ashbourne Sandstone is a delicious South African white wine from the Walker Bay region South Africa. This wine is made from 51% Sauvignon Blanc, 24% Chardonnay and 25% Semillon grapes bij winery Ashbourne.
Recommended wine serving temperature between 10°C and 12°C.
Ashbourne was founded in 1996 and is part of Hamilton Russell. The winery is located in the Hemel en Aarde Valley to the east of the Hamilton Russell vineyards. The focus is on making wines using the Pinotage and Sauvignon Blanc grape in which the terroir plays a very important role.
