EQ Coastal Sauvignon Blanc is a very light yellow colored wine with green hues. In the nose complex and delicate aromas of ripe tropical fruits such as mango and lychee, apple, papaya and lime peel intertwined with spices and citrus flowers. A concentrated, fruity, fresh and very tasty wine, with mineral tones and a nice aftertaste.
The grapes are harvested manually and once they arrive at the winery, they are refrigerated if necessary. Prior to pressing the grapes, a selection is made and then the press is loaded with whole bunches, i.e. without de-stalking or grinding. A very classic pressing method is used, namely at low pressure and with few rotations, to obtain a juice of high quality, low turbidity and very fresh.
Fermentation is carried out in French oak barrels, sourced from different Burgundy vats, using only native yeasts. Depending on the year, a low percentage of malolactic fermentation is carried out to add complexity and volume on the palate. This wine spent 11 months in French oak barrels and was subjected to periodic tapping of its fine lees for six months to promote volume and roundness on the palate. Once bottled, the wine is kept for 6 months before being released for sale.
A food-friendly Sauvignon Blanc, excellent for appetizers, fresh vegetable salads with goat cheese, raw fish and seafood, specially oysters and ceviche (fresh raw fish marinated in citrus juices).
Serve at 12 °C (53 °F).
EQ Coastal Sauvignon Blanc is a delicious Chilean white wine of Viña Matetic from Chile. This wine is made from Sauvignon Blanc grapes.
The Matetic family exchanged Croatia for Chile in 1892 because of all the misery in the Balkans. As it turns out, that was a blessing for the wine world. After setting up several fruit and cattle breeding companies, the now 4th Chilean generation also decided to show their passion and enthusiasm in viticulture. Viña Matetic was born in 1999. Jorge and Cristian Matetic hired various wine-growing specialists to make wines in a biologically dynamic way as a team in the cool San Antonio and Casablanca Valleys. In short, this is the most pure and human and nature-friendly form of viticulture. Due to the proximity of the ocean, the valleys enjoy a moderate micro-climate with a difference between day and night temperatures of around 20 degrees during the growing season. Light breezes ensure cooling and good air circulation, allowing fruit to ripen optimally and moisture to cause hardly any fungi and diseases. On the poor soil of granite and weathered granite, red clay and dark earth as a top layer, the planted grape varieties thrive particularly well. The limited rainfall (around 485 mm per year) mainly falls during the winter season. Beautiful Chilean wines with a nod to the sophisticated producers in Europe.
