Graham's 20 Year Old Tawny Port is an exquisite 20 year port whose main characteristics are great complexity and harmony. Deep amber and golden brown color, indicating considerable age. The nose is very complex and soft. A beautiful bouquet of nuts (almonds), honey, marmalade, caramel, toffee, butterscotch and figs is characteristic. The taste is rich, smooth and subtle with a perfect balance. The finish is long and elegant.
Graham's is a famous Port producer. It has been run by the Symington family for many generations. Graham's owns its own vineyards, but also buys high-quality fruit from local farmers. Some have been supplying fruit to the Symington family for three generations. The grape varieties used are Touriga, Francesa, Touriga Nacional, Tinta Barroca and Tinta Roriz and Tinto Cão.
This port is aged after traditional vinification in large wooden barrels of 534 liters, which gives the Port its characteristic Tawny character.
Quinta dos Malvedos and Quinta do Tua are one of the unique terroirs where Graham's grapes ripen for the 20 YO Tawny. They are unique locations in the Douro valley because of both the soil and the location.
This Port combines excellent with nuts, dried fruits and fruitcake, but is also delicious with vanilla ice cream or crème brûlée. Serve slightly chilled, then the Port comes into its own. Cheese tip: Preferably a mild cheese such as the Pont l'Eveque from Normandy or an old Dutch goat's cheese.
Graham's 20 Years Old Tawny port matures after the traditional vinification in wooden barrels of 534 liters. The 'Master Blender's' from Graham's then have the task to find the perfect balance in old and young Port. Together they are on average 20 years old.
W & J Graham's is the story of two families over three centuries. For nearly two hundred years, W & J Graham's has been an independent family business known for producing the finest Port wines.
Graham's has always been a pioneer. Graham's was one of the first port companies to invest in its own vineyards in Portugal's Douro Valley in 1890 and is now a leader in innovation in winemaking techniques. Today, five Symington cousins share responsibility for every aspect of the business and personally make Graham's wines. They too have been involved in Port Wine and the Douro for many generations, with ancestors dating back to the mid-17th century.
