Heinrich Zweigelt has a youthful purple color with ruby red nuances. Very aromatic in the nose, with notes of black currants and ripe cherries. The fruit flows out in the mouth. The tannins are velvety soft. The finale is long and smooth.
The Zweigelt thrives particularly well on the lighter soil types of the Neusiedlersee. The grapes for this wine are picked by hand and already rigorously selected in the vineyard. A second selection follows on arrival in the wine cellar. Use of gravity instead of pumping, fermentation in stainless steel tanks at 28-32°C, 2-3 weeks extra soaking, malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks, aging in used wooden fermentation vats and 2 year old barriques. Bottled approximately half to more than 1 year after harvest and closed with a Vinolok glass stopper.
Great wine with traditionally prepared game dishes (deer, deer, roe deer, gems) or duck breast with mushrooms and red wine sauce.
Heinrich Zweigelt is a delicious red wine from the Burgenland area Austria. This wine is made from Zweigelt grapes by Weingut Heinrich.
Recommended wine serving temperature between 16°C and 18°C.
Heinrich needs few words to tell his wine story: Zweigelt, Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent (old Pinot Noir clone) play the lead role, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Weißburgunder the supporting roles. The spectacle is directed by Gernot Heinrich and Mother Nature from a holistic, biodynamic experience, in which tradition and innovation find each other in their own way. Gernot Heinrich's vineyards are located in Gols, Neusiedlersee, between the famous lake and the border with Hungary.
