Is a delicious Italian red wine from the Piedmont region. This wine is made by winery Marchesi di Barolo from Nebbiolo grapes.
The cellars of Marchesi di Barolo are located in the village of Barolo, with views over the castle of Marquis Falletti. At the beginning of the 19th century, he laid the foundation for the now world-famous Barolo wines. The building where the winery is now located once belonged to Marquis Falletti. After the death of the last descendant Falletti in 1864, the work was continued by the charity Opera Pia Barolo. In 1895, Pietro Abbona began working in the wine cellars and through his persistence, knowledge and skills, he created the Marchesi di Barolo wine company and eventually made the wine cellars, vineyards and La Volta castle family property for the Abbona's.
Since 2006 it has been led by the Ernesto Abbona family. It is a winery with around 110 hectares of vineyards and a production of 1,500,000 bottles of wine per year including Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo d'Alba, Gavi and Moscato d'Asti. Due to a large increase in productivity and good strategy, the company has grown rapidly in recent years. Not least thanks to the conviction and dedication of the employees who ensure the indisputable quality of the wines.
The composition of the soil in the lower regions of Piedmonte is quite unique. The hills of the Langhe area vary in shape and profile and have a diverse soil type. Older layers are compact and contain a lot of lime and clay and the more recent ones are a bit looser and richer in quartzite, sand and lime. The diversity of the soil, the climate and the knowledge of the employees have resulted in a specific type of vine with its own character, characteristic of the region. As a result, Marchesi di Barolo produces unique wines.
Marchesi di Barolo is a winery that has received many awards and is regularly recognized in the press and media. The future of this winery is therefore in good hands, because their mission is being given further substance by a new, enthusiastic generation of Abbona's!
This Italian wine is deep garnet red, over the years gradually permeated with orange reflections. The perfume is intense with clean scents of violets, roses and spices, cinnamon, nutmeg, which, over time, evolve into tobacco, leather, truffles. The taste is elegant, dry, austere but velvety, harmonious, enveloping, with abundant tannins, well expressed, but soft and comfortable.
Barolo Riserva della Casa combines very well with egg pasta, ravioli and tajarin with tasty toppings such as game meat sauce and truffles, red meat, roast or braised, and game. It pairs beautifully with sheep and goat cheese. Curious if combined at the end of the meal with the pastry. It is a long aging, so it is considered as a meditation wine.
