Mastroberardino Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio Rosso

Mastroberardino Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio Rosso is a wine with a prestigious name and a legendary origin; the grapevine is Piedirosso, cultivated in the Vesuvius area, rich in ashes. The nature of the territory is captured in the bottle and it is expressed in time even after a long ageing period.

The characteristic of soils in the Vesuvian area of production is volcanic, loose, rich in mineral elements, well-drained. The exposure is mainly South-East on an average altitude of 170 m a.s.l.. The density of plantation is on average 2,500 vines/hectare and the plants are about 15 years old and trained with Arbour and espalier with Guyot pruning systems.

This Italian red wine from Campania has a ruby red colour. A full bouquet with cherry and plum aromas, supported by spicy notes of pepper and clove, minerals nuances. A warm well-structured taste, smooth with fine tannins and a finish of fruits and spices.

Mastroberardino Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio Rosso

Mastroberardino Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio Rosso is an Italian red wine from Campania Italy. This wine is made from 100% Piedirosso grapes.

Azienda Vinicola Mastroberardino

Mastroberardino was founded in 1878, and is therefore one of the historic wine companies of Campania. For a large part of the 20th century it was even the only well-known producer. In addition, it was responsible for about half of the total production of Campania and even 90% of the now renowned Taurasi wine region. In the second half of the twentieth century, more and more producers were added, so that the Mastroberardino share logically fell.

The company and the Mastroberardino family also played a major role in this development. Antonio Mastroberardino in particular, nicknamed the "grape archaeologist", has made an enormous effort to restore the old, classic grapes of the region. With great success. Grapes such as Greco and Fiano owe their current success and growing plantings to the family. The development of the blue grape Aglianico also received a major boost through the initiatives of this family company.
