Buying Kopke Port online starts at Le-Connaisseur
We sell among others Kopke tawny port , ruby port and white port.
Kopke Port was founded in 1638 by Cristiano Köpke. Kopke exports wine and port throughout the world. The Kopke Port Cellars are located in the Entreposto de Gaia where most of the cellars have been located for centuries. Here the port is slowly and silently ripening over the years under the most favorable conditions on traditional wooden barrels. Port owes its name to the port city of Oporto and is produced in the Douro valley where the most spectacular wine landscapes in the world lie with hundreds of terrace vineyards on very steep slopes. In the summer it is exceptionally hot, in winter it is freezing cold. The Douro Valley was demarcated in 1756 and is the oldest regulated region of origin in the world. Port is a fortified wine and has a relatively high alcohol percentage. This is because during the fermentation alcohol is added, which stops the yeast process and the wine retains its residual sugars. Port is a blend of several grape varieties. Due to the difference in mixing and composing of this, a diversity of styles and flavors arises. So there is not one kind of port, but a whole series of wines.
