Dopff Au Moulin

The Dopff family settled in Riquewihr in the 17th century. Jean Dopff chose wine in the 19th century and became a sworn wine merchant. His son Jean Gustave succeeded him. He started building the family winery. Around 1900, a young Julien Dopff, after an apprenticeship in Reims, was the first in Alsace to produce sparkling wines according to the "method traditionelle". He thus lays the foundation for the "Crémant d'Alsace". Julien Dopff was also the first to bottle Alsatian wine on the now well-known long, slender bottle. Dopff au Moulin has become one of the leading domains in Alsace and is the market leader at Crémant d'Alsace.
