Laurenz V. has its home in the Kamptal region, famous for its beautiful landscape, the distinctive terroir, as well as for magnificent wines. According to the Austrian wine law, the appellation “Kamptal DAC” stands for wines only made of Grüner Veltliner or Riesling, either in a classic fruity style (Kamptal DAC) or in a richer, more full-bodied style (Kamptal Reserve).
The name of the valley is derived from the river Kamp that flows south directly through it. The right bank (villages Langenlois, Zöbing) with its clay, loam and loess soil gives Grüner creaminess and length. The left bank (Heiligenstein vineyard site) with primary rock (granite and weathered granite) and mica-slate accounts for minerality and zip for the “Laurenz V.”
