Since 1888 the Fessy family has been based in the heart of the Brouilly appellation. Over the years they have purchased plots of vineyard in the best parts of most Crus, Beaujolais-Villages and the Mâconnais. Together about 70 hectares that are planted with vines of an average of 50 years old. This allows Henry Fessy to make characterful wines that come from both their own vineyards and reflect the unique terroir of the different appellations.
The philosophy is that nature has to do the work; there is only intervention if necessary or useful. The use of biological pesticides in the vineyard is paramount, and both brothers are celebrating the traditional approach; it is harvested by hand and vinification is aimed at expressive, attractive fruit in harmony with supple tannins.
Once a strong reputation is built up in the Parisian hospitality industry. But also the international trade press knows how to appreciate the wines of Henry Fessy. As Winespectator, Decanter, Jancis Robertson and Robert Parker wrote rave reviews that can be read on the Henry Fessy website.
