We, Hans-Bert Espe from Osterode and Silke Wolf from Paderborn, have studied in Geisenheim to learn the secrets of winemaking. Travelling around the world have shaped our philosophy, which today forms the basis for our winemaking . Shortly before our first harvest in 2003, we found a suitable place after a long search (shelter) to make wine. On the abandoned, so idyllic looking Canadian airport in Lahr, where the grassy bunkers were mowed by flocks of sheep, we could move our winery behind thick concrete walls and heavy steel door. Unfortunately, our little idyll was threatened by adverse conditions on the airfield. They forced us to move around for some years like the nomads. In search of the ideal accommodation, we decided to bring back the old idyll with the construction of our own shelter. Here we can continue our philosophy of gentle vinification. For us this means healthy grapes from cultivated vineyards with low yields.
