Today, seven vineyards, largely owned by the Castell family, form the core of the 70-hectare winery. The surrounding vineyards of the Schlossberg are characterized by the continental climate of Franconia and the marl and sandstone soil of the Steigerwald. The first mention of the main vineyards of Schlossberg, Hohnart, Reitsteig and Trautberg dates back to the year 1266. The Silvaner, first planted in Casteller Boden in 1659, feels at home in this climate. In addition to other grape varieties, we focus on Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Noir.
