Le Connaisseur sells a wide range of Rheingau wines from various leading German wineries as Schloss Johannisberg, Schloss Reinhartshausen and Eva Fricke.
The Rheingau is planted with 3,100 hectares of vineyards. It is the homeland for the Rheingauer Riesling, which occupies 2500 hectares, and for the Spätburgunder, for which Assmannshausen in particular is known. The Riesling thrives particularly well on the dry, stony south-facing slopes. It survives cold winter days and uses the long ripening period for the formation of fine fruit acids and aromas. As early as 1775, the benefit of a late harvest, Spätlese, was discovered at Johannisberg Monastery. Even today, Rheingauer Riesling Spätlesen are among the visiting cards of the region.
