The Masseria Capoforte was born in the ancient soil of the Salento, amidst, fig, olive, and eucalyptus trees, along roads settled by Jesuit monks and noble Templar knights. In an utterly unique corner of the world, where the Mediterranean's most archaic waves wash a savage coast scorched by a blinding sun that startles the mind and forces it back in time. Into the land that was Magna Grecia and the Gateway to the East, that jealously guards the precious Gold of Taranto, a countryside studded with Romanesque cathedrals and watch towers. Here in the Greece of the Homeric myths. And thanks to Ettore, the man who encountered it.
Passion for Wine
The genuine passion of an individual who in his encounter with a mysteriously forceful and untamed nature found the challenge that represented his fated vocation. This was the origin of Masseria Capoforte. Ettore bore a passion for the cultivation of the grapevine, a love for the passing from hand to hand of a centuries-old art that incarnates the fruitful synergy between the open-hearted fecundity of nature and fashioning supplied by the talents of man. The Ceschin, an ancient Veneto family, are the owners of the entire estate, which was created by Ettore, an enlightened businessman whose name too renders homage to the noble ideals and the resolute determination of the hero of the ancient Greek epic.
In the land of the Salento, in the area of Puglia that still proudly preserves the memory of millennial traditions, the countryside a theatre of irresistibly scenic panoramas, amidst myriad fragrances and colours, here arises Masseria Capoforte, near the cities of Taranto and Otranto. A place out of time, that brings strong emotions to those who gaze upon it, that clings and enfolds in its protean yet elusive pride, mild and savage at the same time. In this part of the world, here level with the flood of the sea, life has a different rhythm, thoughts become lighter and clearer. Vine-rows create the horizon, ever caressed by the delicate waft of sea breezes, ever warmed by the sun, enjoying a micro-climate perfect for their ripening.
