Sauvignon wines South Africa
South African Sauvignon Blanc wines
You can make both sweet and dry wines from this grape. Wine made from this grape smells of boxwood, mowed grass, white fruit and flowers. On the palate green apples, gooseberries, sometimes pineapple and lychee. The wine has a fresh aftertaste. This grape is originally from France. Common in Sauternes and the Loire region. Sauvignon Blanc accounts for just under 10% of the total South African wine production.
