The family business of Johannes Zillinger has a lot of experience when it comes to organic and bio-dynamic wine making. Since the 1980s father Hans Zillinger has switched to organic agriculture, as one of the pioneers in Austria. Since 2013, son Johannes has gone a step further by working bio-dynamic. According to him, this approach gives the grapes more vitality, and thus the wine gets more powerful aromas.
Zillinger has divided his wines into 3 quality levels:
- Velue - accessible natural wines
- Reflexion - wines from one vineyard, with optimal reflection of vineyard and harvest year
- Numen - pure natural wines, with few human influences.
In balance with nature for more than 30 years! Being a BIO is not a trend, it is a lifestyle and Johannes Zillinger has been growing his vineyards for more than 30 years through the bio-dynamic principles that are based on the anthroposophical principles of philosopher Rudolf Steiner. Avoiding all kinds of chemistry is our philosophy. With regard to the environment, natural water, nutrition and especially in terms of wine. Healthy soil is the key to remarkable and exciting wines.
