Vecchia Torre: The Soul of Salento since 1959

Cantina Sociale Vecchia Torre was founded in 1959 by a small group of visionary winemakers from Leverano. Their aim was to join forces, protect small-scale, traditional wine growing and raise the quality of Salento wines to a higher level. Today, Vecchia Torre has become one of the most successful and leading cooperatives in the region, with over 1,000 members working some 1,100 hectares of vineyards. The cooperative acts as the beating heart of the local community, combining modern technology and quality control with the deep-rooted knowledge and passion of its member families.

The Terroir: Sun, Sea and 'Terra Rossa'

The vineyards of Vecchia Torre are located on the Salento peninsula, Italy's sun-drenched 'heel of the boot'. The terroir here is unique and determines the generous, rich style of the wines.

Climate: The hot, Mediterranean climate ensures perfect, complete ripening of the grapes. The cooling influence of two seas, the Ionian and the Adriatic, tempers the heat and provides the necessary freshness.
