Bottega Family Wines is the driving force behind the prestigious South African wine estate Idiom, located on the spectacular granite slopes of Sir Lowry's Pass in Stellenbosch. The Bottega family, with deep Italian roots, emigrated to South Africa after the Second World War. Three generations later, they decided to combine their passion for wine with their love of their new homeland, resulting in the creation of one of the most unique wine estates in the Cape.

The family's vision is based on a philosophy of 'con-fusion': bringing together their Italian heritage with the exceptional South African terroir. They specialize in cultivating both classic Italian grape varieties such as Sangiovese, Nebbiolo and Barbera, as well as French editions such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Viognier. This results in a portfolio of characterful, award-winning wines that bridge the gap between the Old and New Worlds.
