Mar de Frades

Bodegas Mar de Frades

Bodegas Mar de Frades is located in Galicia, northwest Spain and founded in 1986 in Villagarcia de Arosa. The vineyards are located in a rugged area that is cleaved by large rivers. Much cooling and rain influence by the adjacent ocean. Once the grapes are at optimum ripeness, they are harvested by hand and in small crates they go straight to the Bodega where they are rigorously sorted straight away. (some 17% is even thrown away)

The grapes

Most grapes are pressed directly and the ripest grapes are macerated for 32 hours using the Ganimede method so that the must remains optimally mixed and richer aromas are created. The fermentation then takes place in stainless steel vats, with the juice in contact with the lees to give the wine length and volume. After this, the wine is bottled in its iconic blue bottle, where it rests for a few months before being released to the market for you to enjoy.
