Bodegas Mar de Frades

Mar de Frades is a winery located in the Rías Baixas region of Spain, known for its production of Albariño wines. The winery was founded in 1987 by Ramón Bilbao, who was inspired by the beauty of the Rías Baixas coastline and the potential of the Albariño grape.

Mar de Frades has 43 hectares of vineyards, which are located in the Salnés Valley, the heart of the Rías Baixas region. The vineyards are planted on slopes that face the Atlantic Ocean, which provides a unique maritime climate that is ideal for the cultivation of the Albariño grape. The winery also sources grapes from local growers who share their commitment to sustainable farming practices.

The flagship wine of Mar de Frades is the Albariño. This wine is made from 100% Albariño grapes, which are hand-harvested and carefully selected to ensure the highest quality. The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures to preserve the fresh and fruity character of the grape. The resulting wine is crisp, clean, and refreshing, with aromas of citrus, green apple, and peach, and a mineral finish.

In addition to their Albariño wine, Mar de Frades also produces a range of other wines, including a Godello, a red blend, and a rosé. All of their wines are made with the same attention to detail and commitment to quality as their flagship Albariño.

Mar de Frades is committed to sustainable winemaking practices, and they have implemented a number of initiatives to reduce their environmental impact, including the use of renewable energy sources and the implementation of organic farming practices. The winery also has a deep respect for the natural beauty of the Rías Baixas region and is committed to preserving it for future generations.
