Dorli Muhr Liebkind is a wine of extremes, intense aromas, dense structure, strong tannins and impressive freshness. The essence of the Spitzerberg.

Vineyard Ried Kobeln is at 300 meters the highest location on the Spitzerberg. Here the ground cover is very small and the wind load is even stronger, leading to extremely low yields. In 2008, the area of 1.1 hectares was planted with an average yield of approximately 1500 to 2000 kg of grapes. The Blaufränkisch grapes are extraordinarily small with a diameter of 8 mm and therefore bring a lot of tannins and aromas to the dense wine. Liebkind is therefore a wine that needs a longer aging period. Experience has shown that the elegance and finesse of the wine only become apparent after about five to six years of aging.

It is very important in this extremely dry location not to wait too long for the harvest. The grapes are harvested by hand and any overripe berries are carefully removed. In the cellar, the grapes are lightly crushed and partly macerated with the stems in open fermentation tanks. Fermentation starts after just a few days thanks to wild yeasts. The spontaneous fermentation is very slow and at room temperature the mash is not heated or cooled. In this way, the special expression of the Ried Kobeln is obtained. After about 20 days, the wine is pressed and then aged in a large old wooden barrel. During the 20-month aging process, the wine is moved only once and finally filled without filtration.

Great wine with traditionally prepared game dishes or duck breast with mushrooms and red wine sauce. Particularly suitable with red meat dishes.
