Sherry

Sherry is a fortified wine that originates from the Jerez region of southern Spain. It is made from white grapes, mainly the Palomino grape, and is enriched with brandy or grape spirit to increase the alcohol content.

Sherry is typically aged in oak barrels using a unique aging process called the solera system, which blends younger wines with older ones to create a consistent flavor profile. There are different types of sherry, including Fino, Manzanilla, Amontillado, Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez, each with its own specific taste and characteristics.

Sherry is often drunk as an aperitif or dessert wine and goes well with a variety of dishes, including seafood, cheese, nuts and chocolate. It can be served chilled or at room temperature, depending on the type of sherry and personal preference.

Le Connaisseur sells sherry from the following sherry houses: Bodegas Lustau, Bodegas Baron, Bodegas Williams & Humbert and Bodegas Hidalgo la Gitana.
