Vitivinicola Antoniolo is the top producer in Gattinara, a small area in the far north of Piedmont, in the shadow of Monte Rosa. Gattinara has a tight 100 acres, and the wines are made from Nebbiolo (locally called Spanna). The vineyards are on the foothills of the Alps, and the main soil components are granite, quartz and iron, with a low PH.
This provides huge fine and elegant wines. Sizzling wines: Nebbiolo as a ballerina. This obviously never stays unnoticed. For example, the Osso San Grato 2005 in 2010 by the Gambero Rosso named red wine of the year.
