The family estate Sattlerhof cultivates 30 hectares of vineyards in one of the most exciting wine regions in Austria: Südsteiermark, in the south-east of the country, below the city of Graz and south of the small town of Gamlitz, not far from the border with Slovenia. The domain has been family owned since 1887.
Willi Sattler manages three of the very best vineyards in all of Styria: Sernauberg, Pfarrweingarten and Kranachberg. In an idyllic undulating green landscape, Willi Sattler knows how to distill the best of the classic Steier grape varieties.
The emphasis is mainly on the long-established sauvignon blanc and morillon (a local variant of Chardonnay) in Steier. The 'Steirische Klassik' series consists of young bottled wines with an emphasis on fresh and fruity, true to the Styrian style. The 'lagenweine' are made from the very best, perfectly ripe grapes from the best vineyards. They are powerful, mouth-filling wines, some of which are aged in barriques.
