Puglia is located in the heel of the boot in the extreme southeast of Italy. It is a warm and fertile region where grapes are grown in addition to citrus fruits, olives, almonds and tobacco. Partly because of its climate, Puglia especially excels in red wines. Wine production in Puglia is one of the largest in Italy. This is due to the favorable terroir and the grape varieties that give concentrated wines even at high yields. Full and mature wines are made from Primitivo, Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera grapes. Well-known wines from Puglia are the Salice Salentino, made from Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera, and the Primitivo, named after its grape. Depending on the style, Primitivo is characterized by aromas of ripe raspberries, cherries and plums.
We sell Puglia wines from the following wineries: Cantine Ferri, Torrevento, Capoforte, Rosa del Golfo, Vecchia Torre and Castello Monaci.
