Don Jacobo is located in the heart of the Rioja area, a few minutes drive from Logroño. In 1898, the first vineyards were planted in Sojuela, a small village near Navarette, by Saturnino Daroca. Don Jacobo is the only bodega in La Rioja that is located along the famous pilgrimage route “Ruta Jacobea” to Santiago de Compostela. It is therefore this route from which the Don Jacobo brand takes its name.
The bodega owns about 40 hectares of vineyards in the Rioja Alta, the sub-region of the Rioja area where the best wines come from. The yield per hectare is quite low, which ensures high quality fruit. The wines are made in the traditional style using modern vinification techniques. In addition to a number of wood-aged red Rioja's such as the Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva, the bodega also produces an excellent Blanco and Rosado.
