Pieropan Ruberpan Valpolicella Superiore is an Italian red wine from Veneto that is both elegant and beautifully structured. Rich and concentrated on the nose, has good depth on the palate, with aromas of red currants, black cherries and blackberries, balanced fresh vibrant fruit with silky tannins.
The grapes are harvested manually on the high-altitude vineyards (350-500m.) with a lot of clay and lime. Low yields of 35 to 40 hl/hect. The fermentation lasts about 12 days with daily 'reassembly' (sprinkling the husks with wine from the bottom of the barrel) and 'pigeage' (immersing the husks). The malolactic fermentation does not take place to preserve freshness. The wine matures for 30 months in large barrels (500 and 2500 liters) and barriques (225 liter barrels) and a period in the bottle before being traded.
Perfect with starters such as stuffed pasta, or tomato sauces, particularly good with roast poultry, grilled meat, game birds and mature cheese.
Pieropan Ruberpan Valpolicella Superiore is a delicious Italian red wine from the Veneto region. This wine is made by winery Pieropan from Corvina and Rondinella grapes.
The Pieropan business was founded in 1880 in the heart of the medieval village of Soave, in the historic Palazzo Pullici. Four generations marked the history of the company, each with their own contributions which varied according to the times, knowledge and entrepreneurial attitude. The wine business started with Leonildo, physician of Soave, who was driven by knowledge in biology and chemistry and began working in the family vineyards and whose work in the cellars was carried on by his sons, Fausto and Gustavo who worked with infinite passion.
